By providing concrete facts and solid reasons, the two essays above mainly discuss the advantages and drawbacks of Internet stars. The former one states that the influence of Internet stars cannot be ignored, particularly in marketing promotion, social influence and personal charm. The latter holds that the opposite might be true, emphasizing this social effect might be negative, In comparison, I’m in favor of the latter point of view, as can be seen in the following paragraphs.
There’s no denying the fact that Internet celebrities can be seen as a symbol of fashion and commercialization. They usually bring strong eyeball effects to the general public, highlighting their personality and charm. This statement does contain an element of truth. But it must be pointed out that it has certain limitations. For one thing, Internet stars’ behaviors often reflect some larger-than-life characters, which attract the immediate attention from different social groups. In an era of information exchange and Internet link, even children cannot be immune from these influences. For another thing, one thing cannot be ignored: behind the attractive appearance of these Internet stars are their superficial values, money worship inclination and over-commercialization, all of which are not beneficial for the future social development. As a result, Internet stars, as a social phenomenon, greatly appeal to people’s emotions, desires and vanity. But they are the by-products of a society, which is full of over-commercialization, shallow taste and self-important behaviors. The conclusion is that the influence of Internet stars (cyberspace celebrities) is less than positive
In this sense, citizens, young people in particular, are supposed to have a good judgment to this phenomenon, and then show a clear direction to their children.
