more than和more so than的区别？

　没有more so than

一、 more than

1. more than 可放在数词以前，意为“超越；不止；以上”，用于此意义时可与 over 互换使用。

比如：

Altogether more than 70 percent of the surface of our planet iscovered by water. 整体说来，我们这个星球表面有 百分之70 以上都为水所覆盖。

2. more than 可放在名词以前，表示“不只是；不仅仅”。

比如：

Hibernation is more than sleep. 冬眠不只是睡眠。

Bamboo is used for more than building. 竹子不只是用于建筑。

3. more than 用于形容词或副词前，作“很；十分”解，与 very 同义。

比如：

She is more than careful in doing things. 她做事很细心。

In class， he listens more than attentively. 在课堂上，他听讲十分仔细。

4. more than 后面接含有 can 的从句时，常表示否定意义。这个时候，从句中的谓语动词一定要是及物动词，还与句子的主语呈现逻辑上的动宾关系。

比如：

This secret is more than we can let out. 这个秘密我们是不可以泄露的。（主语secret 是 letout 的逻辑宾语）

二、 more … than

1. more … than 意为“与其……不如……”：“是……而不是……”，常可与“ rather than ”或“ not so much … as ”互换使用。比如：

He is more like a spear than anything else. = He is like a spearrather than anything else. = He is not so much like anything else as like aspear.

与其说他（指大象）像别的什么东西，不如说他像一根长矛。

He is more poltroon than cautious.

与其说他谨严，不如说他是怯懦。

2. more … than 后面接含有 can 的从句时，同样表示否定意义。比如：

Tom has more insolence than I can stand. = Toms insolence is morethan I can stand.

汤姆的傲慢使我很难忍受。

比较： less … than 意为“不像……；不是……”。比如：

Joseph is less honest than his brother.

约瑟夫不像他兄弟那样诚实。

三、 no more than 或 not any more than

两者的意思都是“唯有；仅仅；不过（ =only； just ）”，前者多用于书面语，后者经常会用到于口语。比如：

Abraham Lincolns whole school education added up to no more thanone year.

亚伯拉罕。林肯所受的都学校教育总共不过一年时间。

1、more than的主要用法有：

(1) 后接数词，表示“多于”(= over)。如：

more than a mile. 一英里多。 more than 50 students. 五十多个学生。

(2) 后接名词、动词或从句，表示“不只是”(= not only)。如：

He is more than a father to her. 他待她胜过父亲。

He more than smiled, but laughed. 他不只是微笑，而是放声大笑。

The result was much more than I imagined.结果远远超越我的想像。

(3) 后接形容词、副词或分词, 表示“非常”、“很”(= very,extremely)。如：

She was more than pleased. 她十二分高兴。

He was more than upset by the accident. 这个意外事故使他很心烦意乱。

2、more ... than主要用于同一个人或物在两个不一样性质或特点等方面的比较(比较级一定要加 more，不可以用加词尾 -er 的方法)，时常可理解为“与其……不如”。如：

He is more brave than wise. 他有勇无谋。

He was more frightened than hurt. 他伤倒不算什么，可受惊不小。

，More than意思是多于超越，比如The students in class one is more than those in class too，一班的学生比二班的多，More so than是错误的表达形式，因为so后面要加形容词或副词的原级，比如There are so many people in the park now目前公园里有如此多的人，故此，这两个短语根本就没有可比之处，

前者是简单比较，比…多

后者应该有上文和下文情景，so替代了一个形容词
